Swedish Engineering President Joe Meza is a master at turning ideas
into
opportunities. He's not afraid to try something new because he believes
that
no matter the outcome, there's always a lesson to be learned.
Joe earned a Sociology Degree from Eastern Michigan University,
paying
his tuition by working as a mechanic. With the degree in hand, he went back
to fixing cars and opened his first Ann Arbor, Michigan, Volvo repair shop
in
a garage behind his parent's house in 1977.
For Joe, work is pleasure. But when his mind isn't on the business he
loves, Joe is parent to four children. He likes to travel, go to the movies and take his daughters
swimming.

Corky
Zaron
Service Manager
669 State Circle
Ann Arbor, MI 48108
e-mail Corky
(734) 761-1081
|
Corky Zaron's goal is to never
have a bad day. As Swedish Engineering's
Service Manager, he hopes his positive attitude, 29 years of auto
industry experience, and the skillful hands of co-workers ensures that
customers have a smile as big as his. "My job is easy because of the
talent I work with," he said.
Corky originally set out to be a dentist, but decided he'd rather look
under the hood of autos than into people's mouths. He began his
automotive career in 1971, and joined Swedish Engineering in 1995.
A single parent to Larissa and Travis, Corky is also devoted to his
girlfriend Lisa, "the love of his life." For fun (and exercise), Corky
travels the country with a competition in-line speed skating team.

Jason Gary
Business Manager
669 State Circle
Ann Arbor, MI 48108
(734) 761-1081
e-mail Jason

|
Jason was hired as Parts
Manager, but has now been promoted to Business
Manager of Swedish Engineering.
Jason is no stranger to Volvos. His mother had the same Volvo for 25
years, and he's spent the last several years slowly restoring a 1967
122.
"I really enjoy the product, and the people I work with," said Jason,
"We're like a family here."
Jason is single, conservative and migrates toward what he describes as
quieter pursuits such as classical jazz and reading, at least when he's
not playing his drums.

Mark Newbound
Master Technician
669 State Circle
Ann Arbor, MI 48108
(734) 761-1081

|
Whether Mark Newbound is
repairing Volvos, swinging golf clubs or
playing drums for his country-rockabilly band "Driving Sideways," the
Master Technician calls himself competitive and a perfectionist. "I see
detail in everything," he said.
Born mechanically inclined, Mark learned the art of mechanical repair
from his father. He worked for a gas station as a high school student,
then in 1975 began a 30+ year automotive career, nine of those at a
local Volvo dealership. Twelve years ago, Mark joined the Swedish
Engineering team. "The emphasis is on the customer at Swedish
Engineering, not on the final bill," he said. "The goal is to get the
cars fixed right the first time around."
Mark is married to Connie, and has two children, Nakema and Chad.

Kyle Brodie
Master Technician 669 State Circle
Ann Arbor, MI 48108
(734) 761-1081

|
Kyle Brodie is a grown-up, but
tries not to act like one. He rides dirt
bikes, drives dune buggies and loves driving in blizzard conditions.
"The more snow, the more hazardous the road, the happier I am," he said.
Kyle enjoys taking things apart and fixing them, especially Volvos. He
worked in an auto repair shop as a teen, then spent nine years as a
mechanic for the local Volvo dealership. Kyle has been with Swedish
Engineering since 1991. But you won't find a speck of grease under this
Master Mechanic's fingernails because he's a self-confessed clean freak.
Kyle and wife Debra, along with Ashley, Matt and Daniel keep busy. "We
ride around on things. It's our source of fun."

Benjamin Meza
Network Administrator
669 State Circle

(734) 761-2265

Benjamin Meza isn't exactly a
chip off the old engine block. While the
son of Swedish Engineering owners, Joe and Barbara, works for his
parents' company, he's more focused on computers than Volvos.
At age eight, he was programming in Basic on an old Atari 800XL
computer. By age 13 Benjamin had taught himself all about computers by
immersion. At 14, Benjamin was hired by a small computer company in
Atlanta, Georgia, building, repairing and installing computers-and
learning the ins and outs of network operating systems and
configurations including Local and wide area networks.
Today, Benjamin is solving the company's
computer, e-mail and Internet service problems, working on an on-line
Volvo parts ordering system and a virtual private network to link all
three locations. Benjamin is a graduate of Eastern Michigan University.
